Pleasant and Harrisburg and the unincorporated <br />areas of Cabarrus County; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the conditions of the franchise agreement have been changed by <br />mutual consent to include the following: <br /> <br />BFI will waive tip fees charged to Cabarrus County on municipal solid <br />waste collected at County-operated convenience center(s) delivered by <br />the County to the BFI landfill at Lowes Motor Speedway. <br /> <br />Rental fees will be waived on BFI-owned containers used for municipal <br />solid waste located at the Cabarrus County landfill. <br /> <br />BFI will place containers for the collection of cardboard at the <br />Cabarrus County Human Services Center (1303 S. Cannon Blvd., <br />Kannapolis) and at the County recycling center located near Angelo's <br />Fish House (1534 Trinity Church Rd., Concord) free of charge. <br />Cardboard will be collected at those si.tes by BFI and will be <br />transported to a recycling center free of charge. <br /> <br />BFI will provide curbside recycling collection for a fee (to be <br />determined at a later date) in residential subdivisions in the <br />unincorporated areas of the county upon request. Fees will be paid by <br />subscribers. <br /> <br />BFI will provide recycling collection at County-owned facilities free <br />of charge; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the franchise agreement expires January 1, 2003 and may be <br />renewed for one successive period of five years. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the <br />County of Cabarrus that the Solid Waste Collection and Disposal Franchise <br />Agreement with BFI Waste Services of North America, Inc. is renewed for five <br />years, including the change in conditions herein described,, from January 1, <br />2003 through December 31, 2007. <br /> <br />Adopted'this the 19th day of August, 2002. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br />/s/ Frankie F.
