Privette, do solemnly and sincerely swear (or affirm) that I <br />will be faithful and bear true allegiance to the State of North Carolina, and <br />to the constitutional powers and authorities which are or may be established <br />for the government thereof; and that I will endeavor to support, maintain, <br />and defend the Constitution of said State, not inconsistent with the <br />Constitution of the United States, to the best of my knowledge and ability; <br />so help me God. <br /> <br /> I, Coy C. Privette <br /> <br />(D) ORGANIZATION OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br /> Mr. Clifton presided over the organization of the Board. He called for <br />nominations for Chairman. <br /> <br />Commissioner Suggs nominated Commissioner Freeman for Chairman. <br /> <br /> There were no other nominations, and the Board voted unanimously to <br />elect Commissioner Freeman as Chairman of the Board. <br /> <br />Mr. Clifton turned the meeting over to Chairman Freeman. <br /> <br />Chairman Freeman called for nominations for Vice Chairman. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Privette nominated Commissioner Suggs for Vice Chairman. <br />Chairman Freeman seconded the nomination. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Carruth stated that he had asked to step down as Vice <br />Chairman due to work commitments. He nominated Commissioner Carpenter for <br />Vice Chairman. <br /> <br /> The Board elected Commissioner Suggs as Vice Chairman by the following <br />vote: <br /> <br /> . Voting for Commissioner Suggs - Commissioners Privette and Suggs and <br /> Chairman Freeman <br /> Voting for Commissioner Carpenter - Commissioners Carruth and Carpenter <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carruth, seconded by Commissioner Privette <br />and unanimously carried, the Board moved to elect Commissioner Suggs as Vice <br />Chairman by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> Chairman Freeman commented on the work of the Board during the next <br />year and welcomed Commissioner Carpenter to the Board of Commissioners. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Carpenter expressed appreciation for the opportunity to <br />serve the citizens of Cabarrus County for the next four years. <br /> <br />ITEMS OF THE AGENDA <br /> <br />(E) APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA <br /> <br /> Mr. Clifton asked that the Board add a Closed Session to the Agenda to <br />discuss personnel matters. Mr. Hartsell asked for a Closed Session to <br />discuss the acquisition of real property off Pitts School Road. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carruth, seconded by Vice Chairman Suggs <br />and unanimously carried, the Board approved the Agenda as submitted with the <br />addition of a Closed Session to discuss personnel matters and property <br />acquisition. ~ <br /> <br /> <br />
