December 2, 2002 Page 496 <br /> <br />(F) NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br />(F-l) Approval of Bond for the Sheriff as Required by North Carolina General <br />Statute 162-9 <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carpenter, seconded by Vice Chairman Suggs <br />and unanimously carried, the Board approved the Public Official Bond in the <br />amount of $25,000.00 for Sheriff Brad Riley pursuant to North Carolina <br />General Statute 162-9. <br /> <br />(F-2) Appointment of commissioner Members to Miscellaneous Boards and <br />Committees <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carruth, seconded by Commissioner Carpenter <br />and unanimously carried, the Board tabled the appointment of Board members to <br />miscellaneous boards' and committees until the December 16tn meeting with each <br />Board member to provide information to Chairman Freeman concerning the <br />committees on which he/she wishes to serve. Further, the Board agreed to <br />create an informal liaison for members of the Board with the five <br />municipalities and to appoint a Board member on December 16 to serve as <br />liaison to each of the municipal boards in Cabarrus County. <br /> <br />(F-3) Adoption of Regular Meeting Schedule for 2003 <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Commissioner Carruth <br />and unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following Resolution <br />establishing the regular meeting schedule for 2003, with the January meeting <br />to be held on January 27 due to the Martin Luther King, Jr., holiday. <br /> <br />Resolution No. 2002-38 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING THE REGULAR MEETING SCHEDULE <br /> FOR CD~LENDAR YEAR 2003 <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the regular meetings 'of the Cabarrus County Board of <br />Commissioners are currently held on the third Monday of each month at 6:30 <br />p.m. in the Commissioners' Meeting Room at the Governmental Center; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday requires a change in the <br />regular meeting date in January, 2003. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the Cabarrus County Board of <br />Commissioners, pursuant to North Carolina General Statute 153A-40(a), does <br />hereby establish its regular meeting schedule to meet on the third Monday of <br />each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Commissioners' Meeting Room at the <br />Governmental Center with the exception of the January 2003 meeting which will <br />be held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, January 27, 2003. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the regular meeting dates of the Cabarrus <br />County Board of Commissioners for the calendar year 2003 are as follows: <br /> <br />January 27, 2003 <br />February 17, 2003 <br />March 17, 2003 <br />April 21, 2003 <br />May 19, 2003 <br />June 16, 2003 <br />July 21, 2003 <br />August 18, 2003 <br />September 15, 2003 <br />October 20, 2003 <br />November 17, 2003 <br />December 15, 2003 <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that any recessed, special or emergency meetings <br />will be held as needed with proper notice as required by North Carolina <br />General Statute 153A-40. <br /> <br />Adopted this the 2n~ day of December 2002. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br />/s/ Frankie F.
