December 2, 2002 Page 498 <br /> <br />With mutual respect and appreciation the Cabarrus County Board of <br />Commissioners and County Manager Frank Clifton have agreed to a <br />termination of his employment with Cabarrus County effective <br />December 31, 2002. <br /> <br />The County is providing a severance package in keeping with the <br />terms of the employment agreement that the County Manager was <br />offered upon his employment in February 1996. <br /> <br />The newly organized Board felt a change in the appointed <br />administrative position of County Manager would allow the Board <br />greater flexibility in establishing future direction they would <br />like to see County Government pursue. <br /> <br />In keeping with the professional relationship long maintained <br />between the County Commission and County Manager, both parties <br />are confident a smooth and seamless transition process will <br />occur. <br /> <br />The County Manager wishes nothing but the best for Cabarrus <br />County and the Board of County Commissioners. <br /> <br /> Each Board member commented on Mr. Clifton's knowledge and skills and <br />the accomplishments that have occurred in Cabarrus County during his tenure <br />as County Manager. They expressed appreciation for his service and wished <br />him and his family success and happiness in the future. <br /> <br /> The Board then voted unanimously to approve the motion (see above.) as <br />presented by Commissioner Privette and seconded by Vice Chairman Suggs. <br /> <br />The Severance Package for Mr. Clifton included the following: <br />January 3rd Payroll Check: <br /> <br />SICK HOURS <br />917.6216 hrs. @ $61.1398 <br /> <br />$ 56,103.20 <br /> <br />SEVERANCE PAY: <br />Six Months @ $10,597.56 <br /> <br />$ 63,585.36 <br /> <br />TRAVEL: $ 4,000.02 <br />Six Months @ $666.67 <br /> <br />HOSPITAL AND LIFE INSURANCE <br />Six Months @ $284.40 <br /> <br />$ 1,706.40 <br /> <br />401K <br />Payable to ICMA <br />$77,341.00 @ 5% <br /> <br />$ 3,867.05 <br /> <br />TOTAL $129,262.03 <br /> <br />(K) ADJOURNMENT <br /> <br /> There being no further business to come before the Board, <br />Freeman adjourned the meeting at 8:25 p.m. <br /> <br />Chairman <br /> <br />Clerk to the Board <br /> <br /> <br />
