December 16, 2002 Page 5'17 <br /> <br />Appointment of Interim County Manager <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carruth, seconded by Commissioner Privette <br />and unanimously carried, the Board appointed John Day as Interim County <br />Manager effective January 1, 2003 until such time a County Manager is hired. <br />Further, the Board agreed that Mr. Day would have the opportunity to apply <br />for the County Manager position and would receive a five percent (5%) pay <br />increase while serving as Interim County Manager. <br /> <br />Approval and Sealing of Closed Session Minutes/General Accounts <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carruth, seconded by Commissioner Privette <br />and unanimously carried, the Board approved and sealed the minutes/general <br />accounts of Closed Sessions held on November 18, 2002 and December 2, 2002; <br />and delegated authority to the County Manager and/or County Attorney to <br />unseal the minutes/general accounts of the Closed Sessions as appropriate <br />pursuant to North Carolina General Statute 143-318.10(e). <br /> <br />CLOSED SESSION <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carruth, seconded by Commissioner Privette <br />and unanimously carried, the Board moved to go into Closed Session to consult <br />with the County Attorney regarding pending litigation as authorized by North <br />Carolina General Statute 143-318.11(a) (3). <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Vice Chairman Suggs, seconded by Commissioner Privette <br />and unanimously carried, the Board moved to come out of the Closed Session. <br /> <br />No action was reported from the Closed Session. <br /> <br />RECESS OF MEETING <br /> <br /> There being no further business to come before the Board, Chairman <br />Freeman recessed the meeting at 10:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Monday, January <br />6, 2003, in the Multipurpose Room at the Governmental Center. <br /> <br />Clerk to the Board <br /> <br /> <br />
