432 <br /> <br />Award of Bid to TransMed Industries, Inc. for Purchase of One An~ulance <br />($65,500) <br /> <br /> The "Request for Bids for Ambulance" was published in THE INDEPENDENT <br />TRIBUNE on March 27, 2000. The following bid was received on April 10, 2000. <br /> <br />TransMed Industries $65,5000 (base bid for ambulance <br />and option of Stryker Cot - $2,500.00) <br /> <br />$63,000.00; <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Casper, seconded by Commissioner Privette <br />and unanimously carried, the Board awarded the bid for the purchase of an <br />ambulance to TransMed Industries, Inc. in the amount of $65,500.00 (base bid <br />for ambulance - $63,000.00; and option of Stryker Cot $2,500.00). <br /> <br />Proposed Amendments and Extension of Historic Courthouse Lease with Historic <br /> <br />Cabarrus, Inc. - AdoDtion of Resolution Authorizinq the County Manaqer to <br />Lease Real Property <br /> <br /> The Board received the Memorandum dated March 30, 2000 from Mr. Blair <br />Bennett, Deputy County Manager for Administration, outlining a request from <br />Historic Cabarrus, Inc. to extend the current Historic Courthouse lease until <br />June 30, 2015 and to make the following minor changes in the current lease. <br /> <br />· Old Cabarrus County Courthouse now changed throughout lease to read <br /> Historic Cabarrus County Courthouse. <br />· Where the word ~restoration" appears throughout now changed to read <br /> "renovation." <br />· In Item #9 currently the lease reads Annual Contract Cleanup of Building <br /> $1,300 and oversee Public Use of Building -. $1,200 now combined into <br /> Annual Cleanup Contract/Oversee Public Use - $2,500. Also current lease <br /> allows for Vacuum Equipment $1,100 change to Equipment $1,100. <br /> <br /> UPON ~OTION of Commissioner Casper, seconded by Commissioner Privette <br />and unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following Resolution. <br /> <br />Resolution No. 2000-12 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE COUNTY MANAGER <br /> TO LEASE REAL PROPERTY <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Cabarrus County (the "County") owns property known as the <br />Historic Cabarrus County Courthouse (the "Historic Courthouse"), created in <br />1876, and located in downtown Concord at the intersection of South Union <br />Street and Means Avenue; and <br /> WHEREAS, Historic Cabarrus, Inc. ("Historic Cabarrus") is a nonprofit <br />North Carolina corporation with fourteen (14) purposes including educational, <br />charitable, scientific and literary endeavors with a primary purpose for the <br />preservation of buildings of historic or architectural interest in Cabarrus <br />County; and <br /> WHEREAS, the County has leased the Historic Courthouse to Historic <br />Cabarrus since 1976, and Historic Cabarrus has extensively renovated and <br />preserved the Historic Courthouse with the offices of Historic Cabarrus and <br />the Concord Downtown Development Corporation as well as the UDC Historic <br />Library/Museum currently located in the facility; and <br /> WHEREAS, Historic Cabarrus carries out a public purpose by making the <br />Historic Courthouse available to groups to conduct public meetings or hold <br />other small group functions and by offering tours of the facility and <br />providing information to students and other visitors concerning the history <br />of Cabarrus County; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to N.C.G.S. 153A-176, 160A-266(b), 160A-267, 160A-272 <br />and 160A-279, the County desires to enter into a new lease with Historic <br />Cabarrus for the Historic Courthouse for a term in excess of ten (10) years. <br /> IT IS, THEREFORE, RESOLVED that: <br /> 1. The County Manager, on behalf of the County, is hereby authorized <br />to execute and enter into the Lease with Historic Cabarrus, Inc., for the <br />Historic Courthouse property for a term in excess of ten (10) years, and in <br />form and content generally consistent with the draft Lease attached hereto <br />and incorporated herein by reference. <br /> 2. A notice summarizing the contents of this Resolution shall be <br />published once subsequent to its adoption. <br /> 3.
