468 <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Chairman Fennel and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved a change order in the amount of <br />$42,000.00 for the installation of a' gas type fire suppression system in the <br />computer room in the basement of the Governmental Center. <br /> <br />Library <br /> <br /> Mr. Tom Dillard, Library Director, presented an overview of the <br />requested Library budget, including the Concord Library and the branch <br />libraries in Kannapolis, Mt. Pleasant and Harrisburg. It is hoped that the <br />new Harrisburg branch will be constructed and open for service in early 2001. <br /> <br /> There was discussion regarding the bookmobile service and the showing <br />of various types of films at the libraries. <br /> <br />Development Services <br /> <br /> Mr. Mike Downs, Development Services Director, reviewed the proposed <br />budgets for Emergency Management/Fire Marshal, Zoning, and Building <br />Inspection/Erosion Control. He discussed the current and proposed permit fee <br />schedules for Building Inspection, Zoning and Planning. He advised there <br />would be a shortfall of approximately $367,520,00 this year in the fees <br />covering the operating costs of these functions. <br /> <br /> The Board by consensus directed Mr. Downs to proceed with drafting fee <br />increases for consideration at the June 19tn Board meeting. <br /> <br />Odell Community Meetina <br /> <br /> There was brief discussion about the community meeting scheduled by Mr. <br />Robert Burkett at Odell School on June 8 to discuss the proposed rezoning in <br />that community. It was generally agreed that any presentation by County staff <br />should contain only the facts and neither promote nor oppose the rezoning <br />petition. <br /> <br />Volunteers for the NACo Annual Conference <br /> <br /> Commissioner Casper announced that 50 volunteers are needed to assist <br />with the National Association of Counties Annual Conference event at Lowe's <br />Motor Speedway on July 16. All elected officials are being asked to serve as <br />Motor Coach Hosts for the event. <br /> <br />Recess of Meetinq <br /> <br /> There being no further business to come before the Board, Chairman <br />Fennel recessed the meeting at 10:20 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. on June 12, 2000. <br /> <br />Clerk to the Board <br /> <br /> <br />
