Further, the <br />Board authorized the appropriate budget amendments related to the sale of the <br />property and for the construction of the new administrative complex. <br /> <br />NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br />Zoninq Text Amendment (To Allow Sinqle Family Residences and Class I Mobile <br />Homes in General Industrial Zones) - Public Hearinq - 6:30 p.m. <br /> <br /> Mr. Mike Byrd, Transportation Planner, reviewed a proposed Zoning Text <br />amendment [Petition C00-02(T)] to allow single family residences and Class I <br />mobile homes to be placed in General Industrial zones on a hardship basis. <br />The Planning and Zoning Commission would have to approve the residential use <br />on a case by case basis. The same types of residential units are currently <br />allowed in General Commercial and Light Industrial zones on the hardship <br />basis. <br /> <br /> Chairman Fennel opened the public hearing concerning the proposed <br />amendment at 6:40 p.m. and asked if anyone wished to speak either for or <br />against the Zoning Text Amendment. The "Public Hearing Notice" was published <br />in THE CHARLOTTE OBSERVER (Cabarrus Neighbors) on July 13 and 20, 2000. <br />There was no one present to address the Board, and Chairman Fennel closed the <br />public hearing. <br /> <br /> There was brief discussion concerning the proposed text amendment, <br />specifically the required review and approval by the. Planning and Zoning <br />Commission for each residential use in the General Industrial zone. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Fennel, seconded by Commissioner Barnhart and <br />unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following Ordinance. <br /> <br />PETITION C00-02(T) <br /> <br /> Ordinance No. 2000-02 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CABARRUS COUNTY <br /> ZONING ORDINANCE <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED that the Cabarrus County Zoning Ordinance is hereby amended as <br />follows: <br /> <br />Amend Chapter 8, Section 8-4, #26, Pg. 8-29. Add General Industrial to zones <br />which single-family residences and Class I mobile homes are permitted. Fennel, Chairman <br />Board of Commissioners <br /> <br />Road Name Chanqe (Unnamed Road to Rodne¥ Rushinq Road) - Public Hearinq - <br />6530 p.m. <br /> <br /> Mr. Byrd presented the petition by McGee Brothers Company requesting to <br />change the name of an Unnamed Road to Rodney Rushing Road (Petition 00-03). <br />He explained the road name is already being used and the company has <br />installed signs. <br /> <br /> At 6:45 p.m., Chairman Fennel opened the public hearing to consider the <br />naming of the Unnamed Road. The public hearing notice was published in THE <br />CHARLOTTE OBSERVER (Cabarrus Neighbors) on July 13 and 20, 2000. There was <br />no one present to address the Board concerning the road name change, and <br />Chairman Fennel closed the public hearing. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Barnhart, seconded by Commissioner <br />Carpenter and unanimously carried, the Board approved Petition 00-03 changing <br />the name of an Unnamed Road to Rodney Rushing Road. <br /> <br /> <br />
