Suggs, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support <br />the Constitution of the United States; so help me, God. <br /> I, Richard D. Suggs, do solemnly and sincerely swear (or affirm) that I <br />will be faithful and bear true allegiance to the State of North Carolina, and <br />to the constitutional powers and authorities which are or may be established <br />for the government thereof; and that I will endeavor to support, maintain, <br />and defend the Constitution of said State, not inconsistent with the <br />Constitution of the United States, to the best of my knowledge and ability; <br />so help me, God. <br /> I, Richard D. Hamby, Jr. <br />Chief District Court Judge <br /> <br />ORGANIZATION OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br /> Mr. Clifton presided over the organization of the Board. He called for <br />nominations for Chairman. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Privette nominated Commissioner Fennel for Chairman. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Commissioner Suggs <br />and unanimously carried, nominations were closed and Commissioner Fennel <br />elected Chairman by acclamation. <br /> <br /> Mr. Clifton turned the meeting over to Chairman Fennel. <br /> <br /> Chairman Fennel called for nominations for Vice Chairman. <br /> <br /> Chairman Fennel nominated Commissioner Carruth for Vice Chairman. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Commissioner Suggs <br />and unanimously carried, nominations were closed and Commissioner Carruth <br />elected Vice Chairman by acclamation. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Fennel, seconded by Vice Chairman Carruth and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved the Agenda as submitted. <br /> <br />ITEMS OF THE AGENDA <br /> <br />Approval of Bond for Register of Deeds as Recruited by North Carolina General <br />Statute 161-4 <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Chairman Fennel and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved the Public official Bond in the <br />amount of $50,000.00 for Linda F. McAbee, Register of Deeds, pursuant to <br />North Carolina General Statute 161-4. <br /> <br />Appointment of Commissioner Members to Miscellaneous Boards and Committees <br /> <br /> The Board by consensus agreed for Carolyn Carpenter to continue to <br />serve as the Board's appointee to the Public Health Authority until the <br />completion of her term of office on June 30, 2001. <br /> <br /> <br />
