<br />WHEREAS, Cabarrus County serves as a major partner in the public education
<br /> system, contributing its share of funding to elementary-secondary
<br /> schools as well as to community colleges; and
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Cabarrus County Board of
<br />Commissioners proclaims the week of April 18 24, 1999 as
<br />County Government Week in Cabarrus County
<br />and urges all citizens to be more involved in and aware of issues facing
<br />Cabarrus County.

<br />Proclamation - Emergency Medical Services Week (May 16-22, 1999)
<br />
<br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Fennel, seconded by Commissioner Carpenter
<br />and unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following Proclamation.
<br />
<br />PROCLAMATION
<br />
<br />WHEREAS,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS,
<br />
<br /> Emergency Medical Services personnel provide essential lifesaving
<br /> medical care to the citizens of Cabarrus County in need 24 hours
<br /> a day, seven days a week; and
<br /> several hundred paramedics, emergency medical technicians,
<br /> firefighters, first responders, emergency room physicians and
<br /> nurses are involved in providing emergency care around the clock;
<br /> and
<br />WHEREAS, a large number of these individuals unselfishly volunteer their
<br /> time to provide this valuable service; and
<br />WHEREAS, the members of emergency medical services teams, whether career
<br /> or volunteer, engage in thousands of hours of specialized
<br /> training and continuing education to enhance their lifesaving
<br /> skills; and
<br />WHEREAS, recognition is due all of these individuals to show appreciation
<br /> for the value and the accomplishments of all of these individuals
<br /> who serve on behalf of all Cabarrus County residents.
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that we, the Cabarrus County Board of
<br />Commissioners, hereby proclaim the week of May 16 - 22, 1999, as
<br /> CABARRUS COUNTY EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES WEEK

<br /> WHEREAS, we are ethically bound to regard children's interests as
<br />carefully as our own; and
<br /> WHEREAS, every generation's future rests with its children; and
<br /> WHEREAS, today's information-age children need skills in sorting out
<br />the wheat from the chaff; and
<br /> WHEREAS, several generations, led by local conservation districts, have
<br />established sound conservation practices:
<br /> THEREFORE, in support of our responsibility to place a sound natural
<br />resource base in our children's hands, I do hereby proclaim
<br /> April 25 through May 2, 1999
