571 <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Cabarrus County has requested the North Carolina <br />Department of Transportation to assist in the funding of five <br />replacement vehicles; and <br /> WHEREAS, Cabarrus County will provide ten percent of the cost <br />of the vehicles above; <br /> NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Cabarrus County Manager <br />is hereby authorized to enter into a contract with the Department of <br />Transportation and execute all agreements and contracts with the <br />North Carolina Department of Transportation, Public Transportation <br />Division. <br /> <br />Proclamation - Emerqency Medical Services Week (May 17 - 23, 1998) <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carpenter, seconded by Commissioner Niblock with <br />Commissioners Carpenter, Niblock and Barnhart and Chairman Casper voting for, the <br />Board adopted the following Proclamation. <br /> <br />PROCLAMATION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br /> Emergency Medical Services personnel provide essential <br /> lifesaving medical care to the citizens of Cabarrus <br /> County in need 24 hours a day, seven days a week; and <br /> several hundred paramedics, emergency medical <br /> technicians, firefighters, first responders, emergency <br /> room physicians and nurses are involved in providing <br /> emergency care around the clock; and <br />WHEREAS, a large number of these individuals unselfishly <br /> volunteer their time to provide this valuable service; <br /> and <br />WHEREAS, the members of emergency medical services teams, whether <br /> career or volunteer, engage in thousands of hours of <br /> specialized training and continuing education to enhance <br /> their lifesaving skills; and <br />WHEREAS, recognition is due all these individuals to show <br /> appreciation for the value and the accomplishments of <br /> all of these individuals who serve on behalf of all <br /> Cabarrus County residents. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that we, the Cabarrus County Board of <br />Commissioners, hereby proclaim the week of May 17 - 23, 1998 as <br />CABARRUS COUNTY EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES WEEK <br /> <br />This the 20th day of April, 1998. <br /> /s/ Sue B.
