The Board had previously approved the <br />agreement on June 15, 1998. <br /> <br />Approval to Reject Bids for Relocation/Construction of County Fleet <br />Maintenance Facility and Direct Staff to Explore Possible Alternatives <br /> <br /> The following bids were received on July 16, 1998 for the Cabarrus County <br />Fleet Maintenance Facility. <br /> <br />Contractor <br />CBM Construction Co. Inc. 4872 <br />Edison Foard, Inc. 1685 <br />Kannapolis Construction Co., Inc. 21184 <br />Southern Constructors, Inc. 34010 <br />Testa & Wirth Inc. of NC 9236 <br /> <br />License No. Bid Bond Base Bid <br /> <br />X $459,697 <br />X $484,000 <br />X $463,460 <br />X $435,900 <br />X $548,000 <br /> <br /> The low bid was $135,900.00 over the amount budgeted for the project due <br />to changes in the scope of the project and' unexpected site work related to <br />utilities. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Mills, seconded by Commissioner Barnhart and <br />unanimously carried, the Board rejected all bids for the relocation/ <br />construction of the County Fleet Maintenance Facility and directed staff to <br />explore possible alternatives, including constructing a single structure to <br />house both the county fleet maintenance facility and the school bus garage. <br /> <br />Authorization to Continue 800 MHz System Cost Negotiations with Motorola and <br />Approval to Enter into Agreement with City of Concord to Employ Motorola <br />Certified Technician <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Mills, seconded by Commissioner Barnhart and <br />unanimously carried, the Board authorized continuation of 800 MHz System cost <br />negotiations with Motorola and gave approval to enter into an Agreement with <br />the City of Concord to employ a Motorola Certified Technician. <br /> <br />Resolution Authorizing the Disposition of Surplus Property at Public Auction <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Mills, seconded by Commissioner Barnhart and <br />unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following Resolution. <br /> <br />STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />CABARRUS COUNTY <br /> <br />Resolution No. 1998-28 <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, General Statute 160A, Article 12, sets forth procedures and <br />requirements for counties in selling and disposing of property. Procedures <br />include private negotiation and sale, sale by sealed bids, auction, upset <br />bids, and exchanges; and <br /> WHEREAS, this board desires to dispose of the equipment on the attached <br />listing shown as "Exhibit A". <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of Commissioners of Cabarrus <br />County as follows: <br /> That in accordance with the provisions of General Statute 160A-267, this <br />Board authorizes the General Services Director and the County Purchasing Agent <br />to dispose of the equipment on the attached listing at Public Auction to be <br />held on Thursday, September 17, 1998, at 10:00 a.m. at the AMC Auction Co. <br />(old Armory building), Church Street, Concord, NC. <br /> Adopted this 17tn day of August, 1998. <br /> <br /> <br />
