Ms. Velsor <br />asked the Board to become instrumental in raising public awareness of the <br />American Disabilities Act (ADA) regulations in the community. <br /> <br /> Mr. Lester Drye of 6700 Zion Church Road, Concord complained about his <br />recent revaluation notice and questioned tax relief for the citizens of the <br />county. He complained that property taxes have gone up each year and stated <br />in his opinion an increase in the local sales tax would be fairest tax for <br />all citizens. <br /> <br /> Chairman Barnhart explained the revaluation process and its impact on <br />the establishment of the tax rate. <br /> <br />REPORTS <br /> <br /> The Local Sales and Use Tax Update for the quarter ending September was <br />included in the Agenda as a report. The tax as compared to the previous <br />fiscal year quarter was up 6.35 percent. <br /> <br />Recess of Meetinq <br /> <br /> Mr. Hartsell advised that the Board would need to meet during the next <br />week to consider action by the County School Board regarding the acquisition <br />of property for the new high school. <br /> <br /> There being no further business to come before the Board, Chairman <br />Barnhart recessed the meeting at 10:02 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. on Monday, <br />December 28, 1998. <br /> <br />Clerk to the Board <br /> <br /> <br />
