Bonds, Clerk to the Board <br /> <br />Solid Waste Disposal and Collection Franchise Agreement with BFI - First Reading <br /> <br /> Mr. John Day gave a brief overview of the proposed Solid Waste Disposal and <br />Collection Franchise Agreement. He outlined the proposal to survey customers <br />regarding recycling service in the unincorporated areas. If the Board decides <br />to implement curbside recycling after completion of the survey, all residential <br />customers in the unincorporated areas of the county will be billed for that <br />service and given the opportunity to use the service. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Mills, seconded by Commissioner Niblock and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved on first reading the Solid Waste <br />Collection and Disposal Franchise Agreement between Cabarrus County and BFI Waste <br />Systems of North America, Inc., and set a public hearing regarding the Franchise <br />Agreement on Tuesday, January 20, 1998, at 6:30 P.M. (or as soon thereafter as <br />persons may be heard). The term of the Agreement was for five years from January <br />1, 1998 through December 31, 2002. The Franchise Agreement is on file in the <br />County Manager's Office and hereby included by reference as a part of the <br />minutes. <br /> <br />Solid Waste Management Fee Schedule <br /> <br /> There was brief discussion concerning materials that will be accepted at <br />the County Landfill after December 31, 1997. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Mills, seconded by Commissioner Carpenter and <br />unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following fee schedule. <br /> <br />Department of Solid Waste Management Fee Schedule <br /> 1998 <br /> <br />Construction and Demolition Debris: <br /> <br />$18.00 per ton <br /> <br />Individual Household Municipal Solid Waste/Yard Waste: <br /> Vehicle Type Rate <br /> Car No Charge <br /> Pickup/Van/Sport Utility Vehicle $6.00 (4 bags or less- no charge) <br /> Pickup with Sideboards $12.00 <br /> Trailer (8 ft. Or less) $12.00 <br /> <br />White Goods: <br /> <br />No Charge <br /> <br />Recyclable Materials: <br /> <br />Vinyl siding and scraps <br />Used Motor Oil <br />Cardboard <br />Green, brown and clear glass beverage or food containers <br />Aluminum and steel cans <br />Newspaper <br /> <br /> <br />
