451 <br /> <br />requirements, the cost difference of bringing the pier up to Code will be <br />determined and Mr. Overcash advised that the additional work will be required if <br />the State agrees to allow the pier at the Reservoir. <br /> <br />Muddy Creek Pro~ect Update <br /> <br /> Mr. Newton advised that 85 percent of the Muddy Creek Wastewater Treatment <br />Plant is complete along with a majority of the line work for the project. <br />Negotiations are currently in process for the Water and Sewer Authority to <br />oversee the completion of the project and to assume operation of the plant upon <br />its completion. <br /> <br />Sale of Utility Lines to the City of Kannapolis <br /> <br /> Chairman Barnhart addressed the sale of the utility lines in the Kannapolis <br />area to the City of Kannapolis and recent comments by Kannapolis officials <br />regarding the short period of time to consider the issue. He stated the County <br />had insisted that the City of Kannapolis be included in the merger considerations <br />with the City of Concord and that he had contacted Kannapolis officials as soon <br />as possible regarding purchase of the lines. <br /> <br />Legislative Update <br /> <br /> Mr. Hartsell gave a brief update on proposed legislation that would allow <br />the County to accept out-of-county waste at its landfill. He also reported that <br />the statewide bill for the proposed one cent sales tax will be considered on the <br />House floor during the next week. No action is expected on the local sales tax <br />bill until the statewide issue is resolved. <br /> <br />Budget Amendment <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Fennel, seconded by Commissioner Olio-Mills <br />with Commissioners Fennel, Olio-Mills and Niblock and Chairman Barnhart voting <br />for, the Board adopted the following budget amendment. <br /> <br />BUDGET REVISION/AMENDMENT REQUEST <br /> <br />DEPARTMENT OF SHERIFF <br />AMOUNT: $150.00 <br />TYPE OF ADJUSTMENT: Supplemental Request <br />PURPOSE OF REQUEST: Public Contribution for D.A.R.E.
