He reported that the proposed <br />byway loop would pass through a small segment of Cabarrus County, including Gold <br />Hill Road toward the Stanly County line, Dutch Road, Lentz Harness Shop Road, and <br />Bear Creek Church Road into Stanly County. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Fennel asked Mr. Michael to contact the Cabarrus County <br />Tourism Authority regarding the proposed scenic byway loop. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Niblock, seconded by Commissioner Fennel and <br />unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following Resolution. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Yadkin/Pee Dee Lakes Project is working to promote <br /> tourism in the seven-county Uwharrie Lakes Region <br /> (Anson, Davidson, Montgomery, Randolph, Richmond, Rowan <br /> and Stanly); and <br />WHEREAS, as part of this effort, the Yadkin/Pee Dee Lakes Project <br /> has applied to the North Carolina Department of <br /> Transportation to have a scenic byway loop established <br /> within the region as part of the state's Scenic Byway <br /> Program; and <br />WHEREAS, Cabarrus County contains a portion of this proposed <br /> route; and <br />WHEREAS, this scenic byway loop has the potential to draw <br /> tourists into the Uwharrie Lakes Region, thereby <br /> creating economic opportunities for the counties and the <br /> communities along the byway's path; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Cabarrus County voices full <br />support for the Yadkin/Pee Dee Lakes Project in its effort to work <br /> <br /> <br />
