174 <br /> <br /> Tommy K. Earnhardt, PA-C, addressed a 1987 Ambulance Service study by the <br />Centralina Council of Governments and a subsequent ambulance study committee <br />report outlining recommendations regarding County EMS service needs. He expressed <br />concern regarding the current ambulance backup coverage policy and procedures and <br />the lack of communication with the medical community. Also, Mr. Earnhardt <br />requested the establishment of an EMS Advisory Committee consisting of, but not <br />limited to, EMS Personnel, members of the medical community, business leaders, <br />and private citizens including the communities of Mt. Pleasant, Midland and <br />Odell/Pitts. <br /> <br /> Chairman Carpenter assured the Mt. Pleasant citizens present for the <br />meeting of the Board's concern for the safety and well being of every citizen in <br />the county. She reported that a number of letters had been received in support <br />of retaining the ambulance in Mt. Pleasant. These letters included one from <br />Sarah Strickland, a sixth grade student, and Mr. Roland Jordan. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Carpenter, seconded by Commissioner Fennel and <br />unanimously carried, the Board moved that the ambulance currently stationed in <br />Mt. Pleasant will remain there and further directed that staff study the <br />feasibility of equipping the Suburban, which was formerly owned by Pitts <br />Volunteer Fire Department and is currently being used by the Concord Fire <br />Department, as a Quick Response Vehicle (QRV) at Concord Fire Station ~5. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Casper, seconded by Commissioner Fennel and <br />unanimously carried, the Board moved to establish a Emergency Medical Services <br />(EMS) Study Council as recommended by Tommy K.
