The library would then be opened for use by
community residents.

Budget Review

Mr. John Day, Budget Officer, gave a brief overview of the proposed County
budge~ for 1994. The proposed budget was developed using a program format and
included continuation requests and program change requests.

The Board briefly discussed the County's longevity pay schedule for
employees and asked Mr. Moorhead to survey counties comparable to Cabarrus
regarding their longevity pay policies. In addition, the Board asked for
information regarding the requested new positions, specifically mandated
positions and revenue-funded positions.

The Board by consensus agreed to delete $7,800.00 from the Commissioners'
budget for health insurance benefits for Board members.

The Board asked for cost justification for the high volume copier requested
for the departments of Board of Commissioners, County Manager and Personnel.
