Carpenter <br /> Chairman <br /> <br />Executive Session <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Barnhart, seconded by Commissioner Hamby and <br />unanimously carried, the Board moved to go into executive session to discuss <br />pending litigation, personnel, and industrial recruitment and for consultation <br />with counsel. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Barnhart, seconded by Commissioner Hamby and <br />unanimously carried, the executive session was adjourned. <br /> <br />ADDITIONS TO AGENDA <br /> <br />Fiscal Year 1992-93 Funding for the Economic Development Corporation <br /> <br /> At the request of Commissioner Barnhart, the Board by consensus added the <br />consideration of funding for the Economic Development Corporation to the agenda. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Barnhart, seconded by Commissioner Payne and <br />unanimously carried, the Board agreed to release the eleven (11) months of <br />funding for the Greater Cabarrus County Economic Development Corporation from <br />Contingency and to fund the Corporation for the remainder of Fiscal Year 1992-93. <br /> <br />Home Health Public Health Nurses <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Simmons, seconded by Commissioner Barnhart with <br />Commissioners Simmons, Barnhart, and Hamby and Chairman Carpenter voting for and <br />Commissioner Payne voting against, the Board moved to add consideration of a <br />salary change for hiring nurses for the Home Health Agency to the agenda. <br /> <br /> Mr. Witherspoon outlined the difficulty in hiring Home Health nurses for <br />which there are currently five vacancies. He presented the following proposal <br />from Mr. Don Moorhead, Personnel Officer, to adjust the hiring rate in order for <br />the County to be more competitive with local hospitals and other agencies. <br /> <br />Set hiring rates for Home Health Nurses at 10 percent above current rate. <br />Effective July 10, 1992, the hiring rate would be as follows: <br /> <br />Public Health Nurse I <br />Public Health Nurse II <br />Public Health Nurse III <br /> <br /> From <br />$28,818.40 (Grade 68-3.1) <br />$30,259.84 (Grade 70-2.1) <br />$31,772.00 (Grade 71-2.1) <br /> <br /> To <br />$31,772.00 (Grade 68-5.1) <br />$33,360.08 (Grade 70-4.1) <br />$35,029.28 (Grade 71-4.1) <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Simmons, seconded by Commissioner Hamby with <br />Commissioners Simmons, Hamby and Barnhart and Chairman Carpenter voting for and <br />Commissioner Payne voting against, the Board moved to follow the staff's <br />recommendation and authorized hiring rates for Home Health nurses at 10 percent <br />above current rates effective July 10, 1992. <br /> <br />INFORMAL PUBLIC COMMENTS <br /> <br /> Chairman Carpenter opened the meeting for Informal Public Comments at 7:50 <br />P.M. There was no one present to address the Board, and Chairman Carpenter <br />closed that portion of the meeting. <br /> <br /> <br />
