He stated that <br />it appears likely at this time that the State of North Carolina will eliminate <br />the local government reimbursement in lieu of a one-half cent local option sales <br />tax. In order to meet advertisement deadlines and to be in a position to impose <br />the tax on July 1, the notice of the public hearing had been published in the <br />local newspaper on June 23. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Hamby, seconded by Commissioner Barnhart and <br />unanimously carried, the Board set a public hearing for 5:00 P.M. on Friday, June <br />28, 1991, and ratified the notice of the public hearing which was published on <br />June 23, 1991. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Hamby, seconded by Commissioner Payne and <br />unanimously carried, the Board deferred the implementation of the transfer of <br />Emergency Management/Fire Marshal Office to the Sheriff's Department in order <br />to work out all details involved in that organizational change. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Payne, seconded by Commissioner Barnhart and <br />unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following "Resolution Requesting <br />Abandonment of a Portion of State Roads 1619 (Rankin Road) and 1620 (Macedonia <br />Church Road) in Cabarrus County, North Carolina" and authorized the execution <br />of the Resolution along with the Petition requesting abandonment of a portion <br />of Rankin Road. <br /> <br />NORTH CAROLINA <br /> <br />CABARRUS COUNTY <br /> <br />RESOLUTION REQUESTING ABANDONMENT OF <br />A PORTION OF STATE ROADS 1619 (RANKIN <br />ROAD) AND 1620 (MACEDONIA CHURCH ROAD) <br />IN CABARRUS COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br /> <br /> <br />
