467 <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, County and Rescue Squad desire to enter into a contract whereby <br />Rescue Squad will provide ambulance and rescue services in Cabarrus County in <br />addition to the regular ambulance service of County; and <br /> WHEREAS, Rescue Squad desires to secure the continued financial support <br />of County for a portion of its costs incurred in providing rescue and ambulance <br />services, and in the interests and welfare of its citizens, County desires to <br />provide financial support for a portion of the costs incurred by Rescue Squad <br />in its provision of ambulance and rescue services; and <br /> WHEREAS, County has appropriated the sum of $20,000.00 for this purpose <br />for the period July 1, 1990 - June 30, 1991. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, in consideration of the premises, County and Rescue Squad <br />do mutually agree to the following terms and conditions: <br /> 1~ This contract shall begin July 1, 1990, and shall exist through June <br />30, 1991. <br /> 2. Rescue Squad shall provide voluntary rescue and ambulance service <br />in addition to the ambulance service provided by the Cabarrus County Emergency <br />Medical Services when dispatched by the Cabarrus County Communications Center <br />and/or the Cabarrus County Emergency Medical Service. Rescue Squad further <br />agrees that response for backup for the Cabarrus County Emergency Medical <br />Services shall be assumed by providing a monthly twenty-four hour per day <br />standby roster. <br /> 3. Rescue Squad shall provide mutual aid to other rescue squads and/or <br />fire departments in and for Cabarrus County as required. <br /> 4. County shall allocate and pay to Rescue Squad eleven (11) monthly <br />payments of $1,666.66 and one (1) monthly payment of $1,666.74, with each <br />monthly payment to be made on or about the last day of each month, commencing <br />with July, 1990. <br /> 5. Rescue Squad shall use the funds paid to it by County for rescue and <br />ambulance service work. At the end of its fiscal year, Rescue Squad shall <br />undergo an audit of its operations conducted by a certified public accountant, <br />and shall submit a copy of the report of this audit to County within ninety (90) <br />days of the conclusion of its established fiscal year. In addition, for <br />succeeding fiscal year of County for which Rescue Squad seeks a continuing <br />appropriation of County, by no later than March 15, Rescue Squad shall submit <br />to County its proposed budget for County's next ensuing fiscal year. <br /> 6. Rescue Squad agrees to hold County harmless from any and all <br />liability, damages or claims, including attorney's fees, that might be asserted <br />or suffered by County as a result of any act or omission of any of Rescue <br />Squad's officers, employees, agency or representatives arising out of services <br />performed pursuant to this contract. <br /> 7. This Contract may be terminated by either party upon thirty (30) days' <br />prior written notice to the other party, and may be renewed and continued in <br />full force and effect for each successive fiscal year in which County makes an <br />appropriation to Rescue Squad in its annual budget.
