Pleasant High School student, as the Youth <br />Representative on the Cabarrus County Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission <br />for a one year term ending July 31, 1991. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Hamby, seconded by Commissioner Moss with <br />Commissioners Hamby, Moss, and Simmons and Chairman Lentz voting for, the Board <br />adopted the following amendment to the Fees and Charges Policy for Frank Liske <br />Park. <br /> <br /> Amend Fees and Charges Policy to Read: <br /> Extra personnel fee will be charged to all groups over 500 people. <br />charges will be: <br /> <br />These <br /> <br />One Time Period - $37.50 per 100 people over 500 (maximum charge of <br /> $187.50) <br />Two Time Periods $75.00 per 100 people over 500 (maximum charge of <br /> $375.00) <br />Three Time Periods (All Day) $93.75 per 100 people over 500 (maximum <br /> charge of $468.75) <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Hamby, seconded by Commissioner Moss with <br />Commissioners Hamby, Moss and Simmons and Chairman Lentz voting for, the Board <br />moved to allow the Concord Downtown Redevelopment Corporation and the Cabarrus <br />Arts Council to study the possible adaptive re-use of the two commercial <br />buildings (P. M. Morris Building and corner building) located on Union Street <br />across from County Courthouse. <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Moss with Chairman <br />Lentz and Commissioners Moss, Hamby, and Simmons voting for, the Board adopted <br />the following Resolution. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, North Carolina has the third largest community <br />college system in the country with the reputation for being a model <br />for training the state's work force; and <br /> WHEREAS, North Carolina's 58 community colleges enroll one of <br />every six adults in North Carolina, offer over 280 separate <br />certificate or degree programs, and provide literacy, small <br />business, and new industry training at thousands of sites throughout <br />the state; and <br /> WHEREAS, the system is often referred to as "North Carolina's <br />best educational bargain," receiving only seven percent of every <br />dollar the state spends on education; and <br /> WHEREAS, North Carolina's Community College System has been <br />responsible for much of the extraordinary economic progress the <br />state has made during the last quarter century; and <br /> WHEREAS, community colleges have made the difference in <br />millions of lives, opening doors of opportunity throughout the <br />state; and <br /> IN RECOGNITION OF THE FACT THAT, our community college system <br />has urgent needs for increased funding and other support to <br />strengthen and enhance colleges especially in the areas of faculty <br />salaries, planning, coordination with public schools and four-year <br />universities, improved training for business and industry, and <br />increased reading, writing, computing and communication skills for <br />all adult North Carolinians; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Cabarrus County <br />Board of Commissioners hereby endorses the report and <br />recommendations of the Commission on the Future of the North <br /> <br /> <br />
