This Executive Order <br />requires certain information be collected from Grantees to enhance accountability and transparency of <br />State funds. Brief Description and Background/History of your Organization. <br />Be sure to include the number of years in existence, number of employees, mission and goals of your organization. <br />Cabarrus SWCD was formed in 1963 and is currently served by a staff of 3. The Cabarrus SWCD's <br />mission is to initiate and carry out a local program to assist and educated landowners, land users, <br />responsible institutions and various groups in the community to plan, apply and maintain sound <br />conservation practices and land use. Cabarrus SWCD exists to encourage the informed and responsible <br />stewardship of the land and all its natural resources. <br />2. Current project timeline: Begin: October 1, 2017 End: Sepetember 30, 2019 <br />3. Expected outcomes and specific deliverables. <br />(Example: Expected Outcome: Aquaculture operation will remain in business. Deliverable:Healthy food will be made <br />available for human consumption.) <br />Expand farm land base through purchase of more land, hopefully by taking advantage of an IRS 1031 <br />exchange. Expansion of farm will buffer core operations from development. Existence of permanent <br />agricultural conservation easement on a portion of Barrier Bros. farming operation will improve the <br />ranking of future applications/proposals for and protection in the Mt. USDA funding would be an indicator of regional support. Project is <br />one county away from the Lancaster County, South Carolina and surrounding counties.
