Over the next four years, PreGel
America plans to invest $14.4 million for equipment and facility expansion that will assist manufacturing and
distributing its specialty dessert ingredients.
"PreGel is excited about the opportunity to further expand our facility in the City of Concord;' said Marco Casol,
president and CEO of PreGel. "We have found great success among the diverse network of businesses in the area,
and we're proud to be a part of this infrastructure and grow with the progressive development that Concord is
experiencing."
Both the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners and Concord City Council supported and approved a three-year,
performance-based tax incentive totaling $249,900 for Cabarrus County and $171,360 for the City of Concord.
"PreGel helped shape Cabarrus County's international economic profile, and we're proud to support their
reinvestment in our area;' said Steve Morris, chair of the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners. Migration rates into the state are among the highest in
the U.S. annually. The Tar Heel State is the only one to rank among the top five on FORBES' Best States for Business for 12
straight years, but it never reached the top rung until now.
An improved employment outlook and the second lowest business costs (labor, energy and taxes) have propelled
North Carolina to first in FORBES' annual ranking, a spot previously only attained by Utah and Virginia since it
launched the list in 2006.
FORBES assesses states across six broad categories: business costs, labor supply, regulatory environment, economic
climate, growth prospects and quality of life. North Carolina is the only state to rank among the top 20 states in all six
categories.
_77
OTHER NEWS
6 INDUSTRY
• Cancer R&D company loins the Research Campus VISITS
• oBLOGf Ch POST: New documentary explores the life and legacy
of Charles A.
