Success Story M <br />D'Asia Cook and her mother were enrolled into the Self - <br />Sufficiency Program in October, 2015. She was also dually <br />enrolled in the Youth Workforce Innovation Opportunity <br />Act (WIOA) NEXGEN program. During D'Asia's period <br />of enrollment she earned her General Education Diploma <br />(GED) and also completed OSHA training earning a 10 <br />hour certification. <br />Tragically, D'Asia was suddenly faced with her mother's <br />untimely death and homelessness; however, with the <br />assistance of the Self -Sufficiency Program, D'Asia was <br />able to obtain standardized housing and employment, and <br />despite Ms. Cook's hardships she persevered and soon rose <br />above the federal poverty guidelines, graduating <br />successfully from the Self -Sufficiency Program.
