Salisbury -Rowan Community Action Agency, Inc <br />7. Describe activities that your agency has undertaken or plans to undertake, on an emergency basis, <br />for the provision of such supplies and services, nutritious foods and related services, as may be <br />necessary to counteract conditions of starvation and malnutrition among low-income individuals. <br />Salisbury Rowan Community Action Agency, Inc. (SRCAA) staff ensures that income eligible <br />participants are enrolled in Food and Nutrition Services through the Department of Social Services. <br />In addition, SRCAA has established partnerships with local food banks, churches, and nonprofit <br />organizations for the purpose of providing participants referrals for emergency food assistance. <br />Referrals are provided to participants to apply with the local Department of Social Services for the <br />Food and Nutrition Services Program. For those families and individuals who are ineligible for Food <br />and Nutrition Service benefits, SRCAA staff will provide emergency food assistance or a referral to <br />eligible food banks. <br />S. Describe how your agency will coordinate the provision of employment and training activities with <br />entities providing activities through statewide and local workforce investment systems under the <br />Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act. <br />Since 2013, when Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA) Adult Services in NC were <br />transferred through contractual agreement from the Division of Workforce Solutions (DWS) to the <br />private contractor Rescare as part of the Integrated Service Delivery model being implemented <br />statewide. The contracted provider in both Rowan and Cabanus (our service area) has become a <br />partner with SRCAA and referral source. Initially, meetings were held, in both counties to forge an <br />existing relationship that is mutually beneficial for both entities which reduce duplication of services <br />in similar populations. Connections with employment and training activities have been instrumental <br />in providing interventions and a direct link to the labor market. Additionally, SRCAA, Inc. currently <br />partners with the Centralina Workforce Development Board by providing classroom space and <br />General Education Diploma opportunities to the Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA) <br />NextGen program participants in Rowan County. <br />Fiscal Year 2018-19 Community Services Block GmntApplicagon <br />Page 15 of 37 Attachment number 2 \n <br />F-6 Page 103 <br />
