Give the Poverty Cause name(s), rank the poverty cause(s) and identify which one(s) the <br />agency will address. <br />A) no or underemployment, B) little or no education or vocational skills and C) no or substandard <br />housing. SRCAA will provide supportive services for families or individuals to develop occupational <br />and life skills to increase income so they may rise above the income poverty level. <br />SRCAA's Family Services will use the Family Development approach to partner with participants <br />and the community to: <br />• Develop/Sustain a strategy to address those needs, both immediate and longer term, in the <br />context of existing resources and opportunities in the community; <br />• Identify specific outcomes to be achieved among low-income people and the community; <br />and <br />• Organize and implement program services, and activities, such as advocacy, support and <br />guidance within the agency and among "partnering" organizations, to achieve anticipated <br />results. <br />2. Describe the poverty cause(s) in detail in the community with appropriate statistical data <br />(include data sources). <br />Socioleconomic factors such as working below the poverty wage rate, in addition to the need for <br />occupational skills development, impacts communities and the ability of residents to gain, maintain or <br />improve employment options, consequently creating the foundation of poverty. <br />According to the United States' Census bureau, the estimated population in Rowan County for 2016 <br />was 139,933. Of that population 17.3% or 24,208 were living in poverty. In Cabarrus County the <br />estimated population for 2016 was 201,590.
