RCCC Breaks Ground for New Advanced Technology Center
Cabarrus County Commission Chair Steve Morris said that education is the way forward for the county and the
region and Rowan-Cabarrus Community College's new over $17 million Advanced Technology Center will help do
just that.
The college officially broke ground on the new Advanced Technology Center (ATC) at the North Carolina Research
Campus in Kannapolis on Monday, Jan. 22.
"The building will serve as a beacon for new
investment and businesses will be attracted to
our region and to our research campus," Morris,
who is also a member of the Rowan-Cabarrus
Community College Board of Trustees, said. "The
ATC is truly an economic development project and
will help both our citizens and existing businesses
employ a skilled workforce."
The Advanced Technology Center project is the
result of collaborative funding by both private and
public partners. The combined efforts and support
of the Cabarrus County Bond Referendum
($9 million), Cabarrus County funding ($8 million)
and additional funding from the Rowan-Cabarrus
Foundation's Building a More Prosperous
Community Major Gifts Campaign make the
creation of this new building possible.
"We are pleased to provide the additional funding for the state-of-the-art educational space," Morris said. "The
community's overwhelming support verified that our community values the educational opportunities that
Rowan-Cabarrus' new Advanced Technology Center brings. It is a game -changer for our region as we strive to
strengthen our economic and workforce development"
OTHER NEWS
INDUSTRY VISITS
• Bloe Post: Concord Regional Airport Update
(4 FOLLOW-UPS)
• New $300 Million Investment in Downtown Kannapolis
PARTNER
Under Consideration
UL
17
/
MEETINGS
• Wayne Brothers' Success Story: Amanda Roberts—
28
SOLUTIONS
PROVIDED
Cabarrus Economic Development Team
Robert Carney, Jr., Executive Director, marney@cabarrus.biz
Samantha Grass, Recruitment Project Manager, sgrass@cabarrus.biz
LeeAnn Nixon, Existing Industry Project Manager, Inixon@cabarrus.biz
Josh Fernandez, Research & Marketing Coordinator, jfernandez@cabarrus.biz
3003 Dale Earnhardt Blvd, Suite 2, Kannapolis, NC 28083 1 (704) 782-4000 1 www.cabarrusedc.com
Aftchmen
® ® Page 244t number l \n
Page 244
