CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />AGENDA CATEGORY: <br />Consent Agenda <br />APRIL 16, 2018 <br />6:30 P.M. <br />SUBJECT: <br />Solid Waste Management - Landfill: Proposed Construction and <br />Demolition Waste and Individual Household Municipal Solid Waste <br />Tipping Fees <br />BRIEF SUMMARY: <br />The Franchise Agreement awarded to Republic Services of Charlotte <br />during the October and November, 2017 Board of Commissioners <br />Meetings includes an increased rate per ton for disposal of solid waste at <br />the Charlotte Motor Speedway Landfill. The new rate will be $39 per ton <br />effective July 1, 2018. This effects individual household municipal solid <br />waste delivered to the County C&D Landfill. A revised fee schedule is <br />being proposed to cover the increased tipping fees, County labor, fuel and <br />vehicle maintenance costs to deliver the household municipal solid waste <br />to the Charlotte Motor Speedway Landfill. The proposed Construction & <br />Demolition Waste tipping fee increase to $2 per ton of construction & <br />demolition waste delivered to the County C&D Landfill is to cover <br />operating costs of the Construction & Demolition Landfill. The proposed <br />fee would be $41 per ton (includes the $2 per ton NC disposal tax) and <br />would be effective July 1, 2018. <br />REQUESTED ACTION: <br />Motion to approve the proposed fee schedule. <br />EXPECTED LENGTH OF PRESENTATION: <br />SUBMITTED BY: <br />Kevin Grant, Sustainability Manager <br />F-5 Page 58 <br />
