CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />AGENDA CATEGORY: <br />Consent Agenda <br />SUBJECT: <br />APRIL 16, 2018 <br />6:30 P.M. <br />Solid Waste Management - Scrap Tire Recycling and Disposal Contract <br />With US Tire Recycling <br />BRIEF SUMMARY: <br />Pursuant to NCGS 130-A-309.58, Cabarrus County is required to <br />dispose/recycle used and scrap tires at a state approved disposal <br />facility. US Tire Recycling, located in Cabarrus County, meets the <br />requirements as set out by state regulations. The Solid Waste Department <br />requests that US Tire Recycling continue to be designated as the <br />County's disposal facility for used and scrap tires, and that the Board of <br />Commissioners approve the renewal of the five (5) year contract in the <br />amount up to $1,125,000 ($225,000 per year). This service is funded <br />through a revenue distribution from the State Scrap Tire Tax Program and <br />is included in the FY 2018 - 2019 budget. <br />REQUESTED ACTION: <br />Motion to approve the designation of US Tire Recycling as the County's <br />disposal facility for used and scrap tires; including the renewal of the five- <br />year contract between Cabarrus County and US Tire Recycling for an <br />amount up to $1,125,000, subject to budget approval for FY 2019, 2020, <br />2021, 2022 and 2023; and to authorize the County Manager to execute <br />the contract on behalf of the County, subject to review and/or revision by <br />the County Attorney. <br />EXPECTED LENGTH OF PRESENTATION: <br />SUBMITTED BY: <br />F-6 Page 62 <br />
