Cabarrus EDC Hosts First Annual Cabarrus Industry Race Challenge <br />Over 125 people from 35 companies gathered at K1 Speed on Thursday, April 19th to attend the first annual Cabarrus <br />Industry Race Challenge. The challenge was created to celebrate and show appreciation for Cabarrus County <br />manufacturers and distributors. <br />"Cabarrus Economic Development was honored to host such a <br />great event for our industries and community leaders," said Robert <br />Carney, executive director of Cabarrus Economic Development. <br />"Our goal was to bring these two groups together and have some <br />fun. We accomplished this goal and are looking forward to growing <br />this event in the years to come:' <br />Leadership and employees from companies all throughout <br />Cabarrus County participated in the challenge at KI Speed. The <br />challenge featured go-karts that go up to 45 miles per hour. Fun -Tees <br />Afinished in first place. PRO-FABrication and Windsheartook home <br />second place and third place, respectively. <br />Lynne Butler, operations managerfor Fun -Tees, said, "We were super excited to be a part of first annual Cabarrus Industry <br />Race Challenge -- and even more excited that we won! It was great <br />to we the diversification of businesses in Cabarrus County andr.. .� <br />the representation of their companies."She added,"This event ly <br />showed whywe should be proud of doing business in Cabarrus • - ,r <br />3' <br />County. We lookforward to defending ourtitle next year!" <br />Afterthe industries completed their heats, elected officialsfrom <br />Cabarrus County and its five municipalities (Concord, Harris- <br />burg, Kannapolis, Midland and Mount Pleasant) competed for <br />the title of fastest government in Cabarrus County.
