CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />AGENDA CATEGORY: <br />New Business <br />SUBJECT: <br />MAY 21, 2018 <br />6:30 P.M. <br />Cabarrus County Schools - Request for West Cabarrus High School <br />Contingency Funds <br />BRIEF SUMMARY: <br />Over the last few months the contractor has encountered additional site <br />work challenges that have greatly impacted the scope of work required to <br />finish preparing the west side of this project. <br />Additional undercutting and removal of mass and trench rock has been <br />performed. Ground water intrusion continues to require us to install <br />underground french drain systems to collect and distribute in a controlled <br />manner. We also had exhausted all mining efforts with onsite material <br />and began importing structural material from an offsite source. Additional <br />site development costs have been encountered due to the final approved <br />site development drawings being completed after the bids were accepted. <br />See the attached memo for additional information from the Cabarrus <br />County Finance Department. <br />REQUESTED ACTION <br />Motion to approve the $860,000 West Cabarrus High School contingency <br />request through the use of Capital Reserve Funding and authorize the <br />Cabarrus County Finance Director to prepare the appropriate budget <br />amendment and project ordinances. <br />EXPECTED LENGTH OF PRESENTATION: <br />10 Minutes <br />G-2 Page 132 <br />
