January 1, 2018. <br />Fleet <br />• Ambulance fleet consists of 13 front line units and 5 reserve units. <br />• Units are tasked with responding to —32,000 calls yearly in addition to significant events. <br />• Ambulance operation results in extreme wear/tear as a result of required driving patterns and utilization <br />practice. <br />• This purchase will be to replace four units that have exceeded the Cabarrus County Fleet policy guidelines. <br />Justification for purchase of Demers Ambulances <br />• Is engineered to meet the 10A NCAC 13P .0224 GROUND AMBULANCE VEHICLE MANUFACTURING <br />STANDARDS. With this manufacturing process considered "standard", there is no increasing in pricing to meet <br />these requirements. There was a substantial increase in pricing ('$20,000) when McCoy Miller and Osage were <br />asked to build to these specifications. <br />• Shorter building time (90-120 day versus 300+ day with McCoy Miller and Osage) <br />• Increased fuel savings with improved aerodynamics and ECO smart system. <br />• Improved lightweight cabinetry construction to include a "restocking feature'. <br />• Standard LED strip lighting in all compartments. <br />• 360" ground lighting to facilitate safe footing to prevent lower extremity injuries. <br />• Warranty; <br />Chevrolet 3 year 36,000 miles. <br />Demers 180,000 miles on Paint, 7 years electrical, 2 year Bumper to Bumper on components (covers emergency <br />siren and lights), 25 year structural, 5 years on cabinetry.
