CABARRUS COUNTY
BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
REGULAR MEETING
AGENDA CATEGORY:
Old Business
SUBJECT:
JULY 17, 2018
6:30 P.M.
EMS - Non -Emergency Franchise Renewal for American Transmed -
Second Reading
BRIEF SUMMARY:
EMS recommends renewal of the contract with American Transmed
based upon provider performance for the purpose of scheduled non-
emergent transfers. The original contract was implemented in FY16,
renewed in FY17 & FY18. After discussion with the Deputy County
Manager and County Attorney we are recommending extending this
contract to a three year renewal. This recommendation is based on the
performance we have witnessed for the previous three years. The
contract is unchanged other than the length. This will be the second of two
required readings of this franchise award if the decision is made to renew.
The Board of Commissioners held a public hearing on the first reading of
the ordinance on June 18, 2018. This item requires a second reading, but
does not require an additional hearing.
REQUESTED ACTION:
Motion to adopt the Franchise Ordinance of the Cabarrus County Board of
Commissioners Granting a Franchise to Operate Non -Emergency
Ambulance Service to American Transmed.
EXPECTED LENGTH OF PRESENTATION:
5 Minutes
SUBMITTED BY:
Jimmy Lentz, EMS Director
E-1 Page 17
