AGENDA CATEGORY: <br />Consent <br />CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />SEPTEMBER 17, 2018 <br />6:30 P.M. <br />SUBJECT: <br />Cabarrus County Schools - Contingency Fund Request for Hickory Ridge <br />Elementary School Project - $600,000 <br />BRIEF SUMMARY: <br />Cabarrus County Board of Education is requesting the release of <br />$600,000 of budgeted contingency funds for the removal of additional <br />mass rock above the 8,500 cubic yard allowance as a part of the original <br />contract amount. The rock that was anticipated to be removable by <br />machine based on preliminary geotechnical data gathered is not and will <br />have to be blasted. Funds of $1,075,000 have been set aside in the <br />Capital Reserve Fund as contingency for this project. <br />REQUESTED ACTION: <br />Motion to approve the expenditure of $600,000 in contingency funds, <br />the appropriate budget amendment and related Project Ordinances. <br />EXPECTED LENGTH OF PRESENTATION: <br />SUBMITTED BY: <br />Tim Lowder, Executive Director of Operations, CCS <br />Kelly H.
