AGENDA CATEGORY: <br />Consent <br />CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />SEPTEMBER 17, 2018 <br />6:30 P.M. <br />SUBJECT: <br />County Manager - Proposed Wireless Telecommunications Tower at the <br />Cabarrus Arena <br />BRIEF SUMMARY: <br />PRS Tower Management Services and Sell Tower have submitted a <br />proposal to construct and manage a wireless telecommunications tower <br />behind the Cabarrus Arena. The County considered and approved a <br />similar proposal a number of years ago but that tower was not <br />constructed due to plans for a tower on a nearby privately owned parcel. <br />The tower on the adjacent land has not moved forward and a new <br />proposal has been submitted to the County. Benefits of a tower in this <br />location are improved general service and improved wireless services in <br />the Arena and adjacent buildings. There are a number of details to work <br />out on this proposal so staff would recommend that anyfinal agreement <br />come back before the Board of Commissioners. Sylvie Langevin with PRS <br />will be available at the work session for any questions about the <br />proposal. <br />REQUESTED ACTION: <br />Motion to approve staff negotiating a tower construction and lease <br />agreement with PRS and Sell Tower. <br />F-3 Page 83 <br />
