November 20, 2017 (Regular Meeting) Page 3366 <br />The Board received the first quarterly statistical report for the <br />Department of Human Services for informational purposes as part of the Agenda. <br />No action was required of the Board. <br />(I-5) Economic Development Corporation - October 2017 Monthly Summary <br />The Board received the Cabarrus Economic Development Corporation (EDC) <br />monthly report for the month of October as part of the Agenda. No action was <br />required of the Board. <br />(1-6) Finance - Monthly Financial Update <br />The Board received the monthly financial update for informational <br />purposes. No action was required of the Board. <br />(1-7) Request for Applications for County Boards/Committees <br />Applications are being accepted for the following County <br />Boards/Committees: <br />Active Living and Parks Commission - 4 Terms Expiring Soon <br />Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee - 7 Vacant Positions <br />Agricultural Advisory Board - 2 Terms Expiring Soon <br />Animal Protection Advisory Board - 2 Terms Expiring Soon <br />Concord Planning and Zoning Commission (ETJ) - 1 Vacant Position <br />Home and Community Care Block Grant Committee - 1 Vacant Position <br />(DHS/Designee/Disabled Adults) <br />Juvenile Crime Prevention Council - 2 Vacant Positions (Substance Abuse <br />Professional and At -large) <br />Library Board of Trustees - 1 Vacant Position (Kannapolis) <br />Mt. Pleasant Planning Board and Board of Adjustment - 1 Vacant Position <br />(Alternate) <br />Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee - 7 Vacant Positions <br />Senior Centers Advisory Council - 4 Terms Expiring Soon <br />Transportation Advisory Board - 3 Vacant Positions (Cabarrus EMS, <br />Clergy and Midland) <br />Youth Commissioner - 6 Vacant Positions <br />Chairman Morris reviewed the aforementioned list and urged citizens to <br />consider participating on a Board or Committee. <br />(J) General Comments by Board members <br />Commissioner Shue commended the Cabarrus Economic Development on their <br />new monthly newsletter. He also commented on his participation on the most <br />recent Out -and -About Commissioners' video regarding the widening project for <br />Interstate 85 (I-85). <br />Chairman Morris encouraged citizens to use the new Cabarrus County <br />website. <br />(K) WATER AND SEWER DISTRICT OF CABARRUS COUNTY <br />None. <br />(L) CLOSED SESSION <br />(L-1) Closed Session - Pending Litigation, Economic Development, Acquisition <br />of Real Property and Personnel Matters <br />UPON MOTION by Vice Chairman Honeycutt, seconded by Commissioner Poole <br />and unanimously carried, the Board moved to go into closed session to discuss <br />matters related to pending litigation, economic development, acquisition of <br />real property and personnel matters as authorized by NCGS 143-318.11(a)(3), <br />(4), (5) and (6). <br />UPON MOTION by Commissioner Kiger, seconded by Commissioner Shue and <br />unanimously carried, the Board moved to come out of closed session. <br />Return to Open Session <br />
