November 20, 2017 (Regular Meeting) Page 3352 <br />WHEREAS, the Board desires to hold a summit, at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December <br />13, 2017 at the Cabarrus Arena and Events Center in Concord, North <br />Carolina; <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners hereby <br />amends its 2017 Meeting Schedule as follows: <br />1. The Board of Commissioners will hold the Cabarrus Summit 2017 gin <br />Quarterly Meeting at 6:00 p.m. on December 13, 2017 at the Cabarrus <br />Arena and Events Center in Concord, North Carolina. <br />ADOPTED this 20e" day of November 2017. <br />/s/ Stephen M. The State passed legislation that removed the <br />responsibility of approving those franchises from cities and counties, and <br />placing that authority with the state. The Code of Ordinances was not amended; <br />however, that has caused some confusion for citizens. It is recommended that <br />this chapter of the Code be removed. <br />UPON MOTION by Commissioner Kiger, seconded by Commissioner Shue and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved the Ordinance amending the Cabarrus <br />County Code of Ordinances to remove Chapter 20 "Cable Television." <br />Ordinance No. 2017-66 <br />ORDINANCE OF THE CABARRUS <br />COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />AMENDING THE CABARRUS COUNTY CODE OF ORDINANCES <br />WHEREAS, Cabarrus County regulated Cable Television including the granting of <br />franchises through Chapter 20 of the Code of Ordinances; and <br />WHEREAS, the State of North Carolina adopted legislative changes codified in <br />General Statute Chapter 66 Article 42 entitled "State Franchise for <br />Cable Television Service"; and <br />WHEREAS, that statute designates the Secretary of State as the exclusive <br />franchising authority for cable service provided over a cable system; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the statutory designation replaces the authorization to counties to <br />award a franchise and makes Chapter 20 of the Code of Ordinances <br />unnecessary; <br />NOW THEREFORE, THE CASARRUS COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS RESOLVES THAT: Chapter <br />20 "Cable Television" of the Cabarrus County Code of Ordinances shall be <br />repealed and the Chapter marked as "Reserved". <br />/s/ Stephen M. This road and the associated gate <br />were provided by the County as part of the original construction of the <br />reservoir. County and WSACC (Water and Sewer Authority of Cabarrus County) staff <br />have met with the private property owners, and proposed some improvements and <br />changes to that access. There is a letter and map attached that show the proposed <br />
