Morris
Stephen M. Morris, Chairman
ATTEST:
/s/ Terri Lea Hugie
Clerk to the Board
(G-4) County Manager - Mount Pleasant Middle School Sale Offer Review
Kyle Bilafer, Area Manager of Operations, reported Cabarrus County has
received two offers for the sale of the old Mount Pleasant Middle School site
located at 8325 NC -49 in Mount Pleasant, North Carolina. The parcel for sale is
only the main parcel (20.27 acres), not the small parcel across North Drive
that houses the small ball fields used by the youth associations. Mr. Bilafer
stated staff recommends accepting the offer from Corporate Funding Associates,
LLC, which would allow the upset bid process to begin.
A discussion ensued. During discussion, Mr. Bilafer responded to questions
from the Board. Mike Downs, County Manager, and Richard Koch, County Attorney,
clarified that the acceptance of the offer would be a conditional acceptance
without any obligation.
Commissioner Kiger MOVED to conditionally accept the offer from Corporate
Funding Associates, LLC for the old Mount Pleasant Middle School site located
at 8325 NC -49 in Mount Pleasant, subject to the upset bid process. Commissioner
Shue seconded the motion.
Following a brief discussion, the MOTION unanimously carried.
(G-5) County Manager - Resolution Supporting Legal Action Regarding the Opioid
Crisis
