April 23, 2018 (Joint Meeting) Page 3532 <br />Pam Dubois, Senior Deputy County Manager, commented further on school <br />funding, current and future debt, and deferred maintenance. She also responded <br />to questions from Board members. <br />There was discussion regarding deferred maintenance projects for schools <br />scheduled to be replaced in the next two years. <br />Ms. Dubois presented an overview of the cost of opening up the new high <br />school. <br />Potential Impacts to Cabarrus County Schools and Cabarrus County <br />Mike Downs, County Manager, commented on being responsible stewards and <br />opened the floor for comments. <br />A lengthy discussion ensued addressing revenues, expenses and other <br />funding sources/avenues. <br />What Next' <br />Mike Downs, County Manager, reiterated the need to keep costs down and <br />raise revenues in order to meet the needs of the County as well as the schools <br />due to the growth in our area. <br />The discussion continued. <br />School Business <br />Chairman Morris turned the floor over to Cindy Fertenbaugh, CCS, Board of <br />Education Chair, for their Board Meeting. <br />Mike Downs, County Manager, advised the County had information regarding <br />the mobile units. He then turned the floor over to Susan Fearrington, Finance <br />Director. <br />Ms. Fearrington reported she has been advised that the mobile units need <br />to be ordered now. However, to order the units at this time, a reimbursement <br />resolution is needed for reimbursement. <br />Kelly Kluttz, CCS, Chief Finance Officer, advised CCS has taken care of <br />funding, therefore, a resolution will not be needed. <br />A brief discussion ensued. <br />The Cabarrus County Board of Education continued their Board meeting. <br />Adjourn <br />UPON INION of Commissioner Kiger, seconded by Vice Chairman Honeycutt <br />and unanimously carried, the meeting adjourned at 7:43 p.m. <br />I Jl 11'WA l <br />Lauren Linker, Clerk to the Board <br />
