December 17, 2018 (Regular Meeting) Page 3769 <br />WHEREAS, during his lifetime, Dr. King sought to forge the common ground <br />on which individuals of all ages, races and backgrounds could join together to <br />address important community issues and provide service to their community; and <br />WHEREAS, the third Monday in January has been established as a national <br />holiday to observe the anniversary of Dr. King's birth and commemorated as a <br />national day of service, that offers an opportunity for Americans to give back <br />to their communities on the holiday and make an ongoing commitment to service <br />throughout the year; and <br />NOW THEREFORE, the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners hereby proclaims <br />Monday, January 21, 2019 as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day in Cabarrus County <br />and encourages all citizens to join in the special programs and ceremonies to <br />be held throughout the county honoring the life and work of Dr. King and his <br />legacy of peace and equality for all citizens. <br />Adopted this the 17th day of December, 2018. <br />/s/ Stephen M. Morris, Chairman <br />Board of Commissioners <br />Attest: <br />/s/ Lauren Linker <br />Lauren Linker, Clerk to the Board <br />(D) INFORMAL COMMENTS <br />Chairman Morris opened the meeting for Informal Public Comments at .6:41 <br />p.m. He stated each speaker would be limited to three minutes. <br />With there being no one to address the Board, Chairman Morris closed that <br />portion of the meeting. <br />(E) OLD BUSINESS <br />None. <br />(F) CONSENT <br />(F-1) BOC - Designation of Voting Delegate for NCACC Legislative Goals <br />Conference <br />Each county is requested to designate a commissioner or other official as <br />a voting delegate for the 2019 Legislative Goals Conference scheduled for <br />January 10-11, 2019 in Wake County. <br />UPON NOTION of Commissioner Shue, seconded by Vice Chairman Honeycutt and <br />unanimously carried, the Board designated Commissioner Shue as the County's <br />voting delegate. <br />(F-2) BOC - Resolution Establishing the Board of Commissioners' 2019 Meeting <br />Schedule <br />The following resolution establishes the Boards' meeting schedule for <br />2019. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Shue, seconded by Vice Chairman Honeycutt and <br />unanimously carried, the Board adopted the resolution. <br />Resolution No. 2018-21 <br />RESOLUTION <br />ESTABLISHING THE REGULAR MEETING SCHEDULE <br />FOR CALENDAR YEAR 2019 <br />WHEREAS, the regular agenda work sessions of the Cabarrus County Board of <br />Commissioners are currently held on the first Monday of each month at 4:00 p.m. <br />in the Multipurpose Room at the Governmental Center; and <br />WHEREAS, the regular meetings of the Board of Commissioners are held on <br />the third Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Commissioners' Meeting Room <br />at the Governmental Center; and <br />WHEREAS, the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday requires a change in the <br />regular meeting date in January 2019; and <br />
