<br />Treating OUD via medication assisted treatment (MAT) is central to
<br />addressing the impacts of the opioid crisis. Alongside evidence -based
<br />behavioral therapies, MAT is seen by many as the gold standard for
<br />treatment. Funding will be utilized for the following:
<br />• To expand availability of treatment for OUD and any co-
<br />occurring SUD/MH conditions, including all forms of
<br />Medication -Assisted Treatment (MAT) approved by the US Food
<br />and Drug Administration
<br />• To support mobile intervention, treatment, and recovery
<br />services, offered by qualified professionals and service
<br />providers, such as peer recovery coaches, for persons with OUD
<br />and any co-occurring SUD/MH conditions and for persons who have
<br />experienced an opioid overdose.

<br />f. Description of the program, project, or activity:
<br />Supporting people in treatment for and recovering from OUD includes
<br />the use of evidence -based or evidence -informed programs or strategies.
<br />The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA)
<br />has defined recovery as "a process of change through which individuals
<br />improve their health and wellness, live self -directed lives, and strive
<br />to reach their full potential." Recovery should be developed based on
<br />an individual's strengths, talents, coping abilities, resources, and
<br />personal values. In the recovery process, individuals should be
<br />supported by their community, peers, friends, and family members. Peer
<br />support specialists have found success in navigating their own recovery
<br />process and providing supports to individuals in recovery within the
<br />communities where they reside. In addition to peer support, care
<br />navigators support linkages to care and harm reduction services.
<br />Funding will be used to provide the full continuum of care of treatment
<br />and recovery services for OUD and any co-occurring SUD/MH conditions,
<br />including supportive housing, peer support services and counseling,
<br />Wcommunity navigators, case management, and connections to community -
<br />based services.

<br />programs, parent -teacher and student associations, and others.
