161 <br /> <br /> The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus <br /> <br />met in special session at the Courthouse in Concord, North <br />Carolina on Tuesday, June 20, 1978 at 2:00 p. m. <br /> <br /> Present - Chairman: S. Glenn Hawfield, Jr. <br /> <br /> Commissioners: Robert Ao McClary <br /> John A. Hammett <br /> Marcelle Milloway <br /> Troy R. Cook <br /> <br /> The Board discussed the legality of Cabarrus County <br /> <br />making contributions to the Boys Club, Rescue Squads and the <br />Concord Chamber of Commerce. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner McClary, seconded by Commis- <br />sioner Hammett and unanimously carried, Cabarrus County would <br />join the Kannapolis Chamber of Commerce and the Concord Chamber <br />of Commerce pending authorization from the County Attorney. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner McClary, seconded by Commis- <br />sioner Hammett and unanimously carried, the following resolution <br />was adopted: <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION CALLING FOR A SPECIAL ELECTION <br /> IN THE FLOWE'S STORE FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners <br /> <br />for the County of Cabarrus: <br /> <br />Section I. The Board of Commissioners has <br /> <br />determined and does hereby find and declare that it <br /> <br />has received petitions from the Flowe's Store Fire <br /> <br />Protection District of more that 15% of the resident <br /> <br />freeholders living in that area entitled: <br /> <br /> THE UNDERSIGNED, being RESIDENT FREEHOLDERS <br />living in a district lying outside the corporate limits <br />of any city or town, which district is described below <br />in this petition and shall hereafter be designated as <br />the FLOWE'S STORE FIRE DISTRICT, petition the BOARD OF <br />COMMISSIONERS FOR CABARRUS COUNTY to call an election <br />in said district for the purpose of submitting to the <br />qualified voters therein the question of levying and <br />collecting a special tax on all taxable property in said <br />district, of an amount not exceeding fifteen cents ($.15) <br />of the one hundred dollars ($100.00) valuation of <br />property, for the purpose of providing fire protection in <br />said district. <br /> <br />Section II. A special election is hereby ordered <br /> <br />to be held in the Flowe's Store Fire Protection District <br /> <br />in Cabarrus County, North Carolina, on TUESDAY, AUGUST 29, <br /> <br />1978, between 6:30 A.M. and 7:30 P.M., Eastern Daylight <br /> <br />Saving Time, at which there shall be submitted to the <br /> <br /> <br />
