6 <br />MINUTES <br />SUPERVISORtS MEETING <br />CA BA:RUS SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION DISTRICT <br />MINUTES NO. 6. <br />TIME: January 7, 1964, 10:00 a.m. t-o 11:30 a.m. <br />PLACE: Office of John S. Smith, District Conservationist <br />PRESENT: Supervisors: <br />Baker Brooks <br />L. D. Coltrane, III <br />J. Lewis Patterson <br />Samuel I. Parker <br />By Invitation: <br />John S. Smith <br />ABSENT: Sam W. Colerider, who telephoned his inability to attend. <br />1. Minutes No. 4 and 5 were read and approved. <br />2. A letter dated 12 -13 -63 from Bryce R. Mounts, Administrative <br />Officer, N. C. Soil and Water Conservation Committee was read. <br />This letter addressed to S. I. Parker notified him of his appointment <br />as Supervisor to fill the unexpired term of Hugh A. Rumple, deceased, <br />which expires December 31, 1965. <br />3. J. Lewis Patterson and S. I. Parker were duly sworn and ins..led <br />as Supervisors. <br />4. The Committee was organized for the year. The following officers <br />were elected: L. D. Coltrane, III, Chairman <br />J. Lewis Patterson, Vice Chairman <br />S. I. Parker, Secretary- Treasurer <br />They assumed office immediately following election. <br />5. Communications: - -The Secretary reported <br />A. He had notified the State Committee of Hugh A. Rumples <br />death. <br />B. He had written a letter expressing the sympathy of the <br />members of this committee to Mrs. Rumple. <br />C. He read a copy of a letter written by Bryce R. Younts <br />to Mrs. Rumple expressing sympathy. <br />6. The following resolution was passed: <br />"We, members of the Board of Supervisors of Cabarrus Soil and <br />Water Conservation District, in session this 7th day of January 1964 <br />are deeply saddened because of the death of our fellow member, Hugh <br />A. Rumple, which occurred December 29, 1963; and, we wish to express <br />our sincere gratitude for the services which he rendered to this <br />Board when filling the office of Supervisor. Hugh was a public <br />spirited citizen, who gave generously of his time and talent for the <br />betterment of public interests. We always found Hugh to be sincere, <br />concientious, honest in thought and act, a man of ability, and one <br />who would carry his part of any load. He will be greatly missed, <br />j <br />
