Clerk <br />1, After a supper at the Hotel Concord, l,ha irman Coltrane called the meeting to <br />order introducing the above persons, <br />2. The Supervisors invited County and City officials to attend the meeting in order <br />to become more familiar with what a soil survey could mean to Cabarrus County, <br />Mr. Coltrane turned the pro ,ram over to Mr, Lewis Dameron, Area Conservationist, <br />who introduced hr. Sam Hearn, Area Soil 5cientist� hr, Fearn presented the <br />program by beginning that he had worked with various types of soils for the past <br />25 Years <br />Mr, Hearn explained the need and importance of a County having a soil survey <br />proLram available, Through his explanations of different types of soils and <br />slides shown along with actual photographs describing the hazards of not knowing <br />the soils in Cabarrus County, he explained further that housing developments, <br />industry, construction and farming practices could be costly to the individual <br />if a soil survey is not used. I <br />1dr. Hearn explained that not only financially, but to the home owner, contractors <br />and businesses , the lack of soil knowledge could cause slow progress of growth <br />within any County. <br />
