MINUTES <br />CABARRUS SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION DISTRICT <br />SUPERVISORS MEETING <br />MEETING NO: 280 <br />DATE: June 12, 1984 Agriculture Center 8:00 P.M. - 9:45 P.M. <br />SUPERVISORS: Frank Herrin, C. Lipe Barrier, Sr., W. Whitaker Moose <br />WATERSHED: Carl Overcash <br />OTHER: Hugh Price, Bill Hull, Eyvonne S. McDaniel <br />1. Vice - Chairman Frank Herrin called the meeting to order. <br />2. The supervisors approved the minutes of the May meeting. <br />3. Chairman 's report: <br />a. Reported the following: <br />(1) Memo from Garland Strickland- Coastal Expo and Field Day - September 13th <br />at Kenansville, N. C. <br />(2) Memo from Charles Bullock - update on "Soil and Water 1 84" activities. <br />(3) Letter to Clyde Propst requesting exhibit space for the District to <br />sponsor an exhibit at the Cabarrus County Fair in September. <br />b. The supervisors reviewed their PLAN OF OPERATIONS for 1984 -85. <br />4. Committee reports: <br />FINANCE <br />a. June 12, 1984 NET CASH IN BANK $735.86 <br />b. A financial statement of expenditures for 1983 -84 was reviewed. <br />c. A motion was made, seconded and passed authorizing Eyvonne S. McDaniel, <br />District Clerk to sign checks for the Cabarrus Soil and Water District <br />for expenditures approved by the District Board. <br />EDUCATION: <br />Vice - Chairman asked for reports on the following: <br />(1) SOIL STEWARDSHIP WEEK Approximately 10,095 book markers were distributed <br />to 58 churches in the county. <br />The District supervisors express their thanks and appreciation to Mrs. <br />Peggy Price for her support and work by distributing the book markers <br />to the churches. <br />Hugh Price presented a recording of part of a sermon on Soil Stewardship <br />from the Pastor of McGill Street Baptist Church. <br />(2) FARM FAMILY OF THE YEAR- The area judging team was in Cabarrus county <br />during May to judge the Fred Dotger farm. <br />(3) WILDLIFE AWARD- Bill Hull reported that information on the nominee for <br />the Wildlife award has been completed and entered for <br />consideration. <br />
