546 <br /> <br /> The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus met in recessed <br />regular session at the County Courthouse in Concord, North Carolina, on <br />Monday, December 5, 1988, at 9:30 A.M. <br /> Present - Chairman: James W. Lentz <br /> Commissioners: Kenneth F. Payne <br /> William G. Hamby, Jr. <br /> Martha H. Melvin <br /> R. Giles Moss <br /> The invocation was given by Reverend Ralph Walker of the Concord <br />Church of Christ. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Melvin, seconded by Commissioner Payne and <br />unanimously carried, the minutes of November 21 and November 28, 1988 were <br />approved as written. <br /> Chairman Lentz presented a plaque of appreciation to Commissioner <br />Payne for his eight years of service as a member of the Board of Commis- <br />sioners and for four years as Vice-Chairman of the Board. Chairman Lentz recessed the meeting until 10:00 A.M. <br /> At 10:00 A.M., the Honorable Adam C. Grant, District Court Judge, <br />administered the following oaths of office in the Commissioners' Meeting <br />Room. <br /> <br /> I, William G. Hamby, Jr., do solemnly affirm that I will support and <br />maintain the Constitution and laws of the United States, and the <br />Constitution and laws of North Carolina not inconsistent therewith, and <br />that I will faithfully discharge the duties of my office as County <br />Commissioner, so help me God. <br /> <br />/s/ William G. He called for nominations for Chairman of <br />the Board. <br /> Commissioner Hamby nominated Commissioner Melvin, Commissioner Simmons <br />nominated Commissioner Lentz, and Commissioner Moss nominated Commissioner <br />Hamby. <br /> <br /> <br />
