The Caba~rus County Commissioners met at their regular monthly meeting Nonday, August 5, 1963 <br /> <br />at lO:O0 a.m. at the County Courthouse. <br /> <br /> Present: Chairman, Frank James <br /> <br /> Commissioners, Oren Hill, McNeil Fetrea, Smoot Lyles, Frank NcCray <br /> <br /> Meeting called to order by Chairman James. Prayer by Rev. Jennings. <br /> <br /> Mr. ~waringen came before the Board concerning food handlers having to go to the Health <br />Department to pick up Health cards. He was advised this would be l~kksd into. <br /> <br /> Mr. Rogers asked the Board to recommend to the State to take over approximately 200 ft. on <br />extension of Thomas St. He was told to get a petition for the commissioners to turn into the <br />Hwy. Dept. <br /> <br /> Minutes of last meeting read by Cloie Hancock. Hill made motion, seconded by ?etrea to <br />accept minutes as stand approved. Vote carried. <br /> <br /> Sherriff Roberts came before Board and ~ur~ed over to the county ~ cases of 12 oz. beer and <br />20 pints of Linquors. Chairman James instructed the Sherriff to destroy the beer and give the <br />whiskey to Cabarrus Hospital. Three pints of gin and three of vodka were stored until they could <br />be taken to Raleigh. <br /> <br /> Mr. Downumwanted board to look into his Social Security and Welfare. Mr. Lyles said he <br />would take care of this matter. <br /> <br /> W. L. Mills, representating Southern Railway System wanted commissioners to adopt resolution <br />cover~g~-t~ansportation of grain into Southeast. He was told they would let him know later. <br /> <br /> Gice Allen came before Board and requested authority to handle thru the accountant's office <br />the settlements of three parcels of land sold by county for delinquent taxes. It was so granted. <br /> <br /> The Board requested Dr. Workman to meet with the Board at 2:00 p.m. and commissioners <br /> <br />asked him to mail out Health cards as ha~previously been done. <br /> <br /> P. L. Ledbetter wanted to know who was in charge of Rockland Sanitary District. He was told <br />to take the information he now has to Atty. Brown and let him advise commissioners. <br /> <br /> Mr. Mills of the C & M Ambulance service met with Board at the request of commissioners to <br /> <br />~ind out if there was any possibility of him keeping the ambulance service in Cabarrus County. <br />~r. Mills stated he would if he had help. McCray made motion, seconded by Petrea to give C ~ M <br />Ambulance~ $300 per month. This amount includes welfare expense and to become effective July l, 1963. <br />Vote carried. <br /> <br /> <br />
