5O3 <br /> <br /> The regular monthly meeting of the Cabarrus County Commissioners was held at 10:00 A.M. on <br />January 3, 1967, with the following members present: <br /> <br /> Commissioners - Rankin, Petrea, Hawfield, and White. <br /> <br /> Absent - Chairman C. Frank James. <br /> <br /> Meeting was called to order by Vice-Ch~rman Petrea. Prayer by the Rev. M. M. Faust and <br />minutes were read by Arvonia Cochman. Minutes stand approved. <br /> <br /> The followin§ bids were opened for the purchase of two new cars for the Sheriffts Dept.: <br /> <br /> Widenhouse Motors $3,987.00 (Plymouth) <br /> Bill Dove Motors 5,1h8.00 (Dodge) <br /> Concord Motors 3,5h9.00 (Ford) <br /> Piedmont Chevrolet 3,798.00 (Chevrolet) <br /> Dewitt Motors 5,875.00 (Dodge) <br /> <br />Motion by Rankin, seconded by Hawfield to accept the low bid of $3,5h9.00 of Concord Motors for <br />two 1967 Fords. Price include~ tradin8 in two 1965 Fords. Vote carried. <br /> <br /> Informal bids for office equipment for the Food Stamp Program, Clerk of Superior Court, <br /> and the Health Department were opened. The board recommmnded that County Accountant Hurt check <br /> the bids and complete the transaction with the best interest of Cabarrus County. <br /> <br /> Upon motion by Hawfield, seconded by White, the followin§ road petitionawas approved: <br /> T-2 Sarah Drive and Stagecoach Road - Request for addition. <br /> <br /> A resolution was presented to the Board by Commissioner Hawfield calling for a public <br />referendum on the establishment of legal liquor stores in the County. Hawfield made motion, <br />seconded by White to call for a referendum. Voted for - Commissioners Hawfie~ and White. <br />Voted against - Commissi.oners Petrea and Rankin. Commissioner Petrea tabled the motion until <br />the next monthly meeting. <br /> <br />County Accountant Hurt presented a report to the Board on the status of County funds <br />nvested to draw interest as of January 1, 1967, and reported that space occupied by the County <br />~oard of Education in the Church Street Office Building was vacated during the month of December. <br />He reported that several agencies requested some of this space. No action was taken other than <br />a discussion of space requirements for the Food Stamp Program. <br /> <br /> A request was submitted by the Farm Agent to reclassify approximately $200.00 in his present <br />budget to be used to increase a clerical salary for the remainder of the current fiscal year made <br />necessary by a resignation and the fact that he had been unable to hire an experienced person <br /> <br /> for the position at the present salary. Hawfield made motion, seconded by Rankin to grant this <br />request. Vote carried. <br /> <br /> <br />
