The regular monthly meeting of the Cabarrus County Commissioners was held at 9:30 A.M. on <br />March 6, 1967, with the following members present: <br /> <br /> Chairman - C. Frank James <br /> <br /> Commissioners - Rankin, Petrea, White, and Hawfield. <br /> <br /> Meeting was called to order by Chairman James. Prayer'was by the Reverend Howard Allrcd. <br />Minutes were read by Arvonia Cochran. Minutes stand approved. <br /> <br /> County F~rcster Larry Lawrence presented his report and budget to the Board and requested <br />the Commissioners to request the senators from this district and the representatives from this <br />County to introduce a bill in the current session of the North Carolina General Assembly to <br />resume the 60-hO basis of State participation in the forrestry pro§ram. Motion by Petrea, <br />seconded by Hawfield. Motion carried. The following resolution in regard to this matter was <br />passed and appears on page % %~Q and becomes a part of these minutes. <br /> <br /> Walter Burr, president of the County Association of Volunteer Firemen and Rescue Squad, <br />made a report to the Board concerning the activities, financial status, and needs of the <br />volunteer fire departments and rescue units. No action was taken on his request for additional <br />funds for these units. <br /> <br /> It was agreed by the Board to appoint a Blue Ribbon Citizens Committee to study and make <br />recommendations for a new courthouse. This committee is to be made up o~ ten (10) County <br />citizens and two members of the Board.to be appointed at the April, 1967 meeting. The Board <br />also discussed the establishment of a County Manager. Motion made by Hawfield, seconded by <br />Rankin to appoint the following citizens to the Zoning Board of Adjustment for the town and <br /> <br /> area of Mt. Pleasant, N. C.: Three Year Term - George F. Barnhardt, Lennard A. Ritchie, and <br />Lacy Hurlocker. Two Year Term - Archie Layton and O. H. Goodman. Vote carried. <br /> <br /> George Broadrick, State Highway Commissioner for this district appeared before the Board <br />to report progress on paving and improving secondary roads in the County. This report was <br />accepted by the Board and appears on page -~1 b · <br /> <br /> County Attorney C. M. Lewellyn was directed by the Board to prepare a resolution adopting <br />countywide codes - the North Carolina Buildin§ Code, North Carolina Plumbing Code, and the <br />North Carolina Uniform Residential Building Code. <br /> <br /> Tax Supervisor Ralph Litaker discussed boundaries of Township ~6 and Township # ? where <br />the boundary lines are not clear and vary according to maps and the original hand written <br />township boundaries. Commissioners instructed Mr. Litaker to allow those residents to <br />continue their listing as in the past. <br /> <br /> <br />
